In 2008, John Whitaker began exploring his passion for rare and character-rich timber. What started as a personal pursuit — sourcing unique slabs, salvaging remarkable roots, and working with raw indigenous hardwood — evolved into a disciplined craft and a dedicated workshop.

Over time, that early fascination developed into a premium hardwood design studio producing unique furniture and statement pieces of enduring quality.

Today, Whitakers Woodworx works with carefully selected hardwood timbers including leadwood, rosewood, mopanie, wild olive, kiaat, and other indigenous species. Every piece is thoughtfully designed, responsibly sourced, and meticulously finished to meet international standards.
